Ref UTT/21/1618/OP | Outline application Land At Parsonage Farm Parsonage Farm Lane Great Sampford Essex
I would like to comments on the above outline planning application.
Scale and Significance
The proposal adds an extra 27 houses in Great Sampford. This is significant: by rough calculation, it represents an increase of around 15% in housing stock in the village.
Moreover, the proposed houses are outside the current planning envelope for the village, which sets a precedent potentially leading to a lot more development in the village.

I therefore think two questions need to be addressed:
1. IslargescaledevelopmentofGreatSampfordareasonablepropositionaspartofa strategic plan for housing in Uttlesford?
2. IflargescaledevelopmentofGreatSampfordweretobecomepartofanUttlesford housing strategy, would this specific site be appropriate?
Is large scale development of Great Sampford a reasonable proposition as part of an Uttlesford housing strategy?
Should Uttlesford wish to allow large scale development in Great Sampford, some major issues of sustainability would need to be addressed, including:
The issues surrouding this site are clear from the objections already made. Most critically:
