I am sending you the information below in the hope that either you, or someone you know within your parish might be interested in acting as a poll clerk at the forthcoming elections. We currently have vacancies in Langley, Great Easton, Ugley, Flitch Green, Stansted and Saffron Walden. If you are interested please could you let me know as soon as possible as I would like to finalise the appointments in the next couple of weeks Many thanks Maggie Cox The local elections for all District Ward Councillors and Parish Councillors in Uttlesford are taking place on 2 May 2019. There is a real need for additional polling staff, so if you’re interested in working at the elections, please get in touch with the elections team as soon as possible (contact details are below). Poll clerks are needed in polling stations during the entire day on 2 May, as polling hours are 7am to 10pm. As a poll clerk you will assist the Presiding Officer with setting up the polling station and clearing away at the close of poll. During the day you will help with marking the register and issuing the ballot papers. You will need to bring your own food and drink but there are kitchen facilities available at most polling stations. The payment is £175.20 for a Poll Clerk. This includes your attendance at a training session at the Saffron Walden Offices at either 4pm or 6pm on 23rd and 24thApril. Mileage is also payable to and from the polling station. We have vacancies throughout the district. If you haven’t had experience of polling, please do feel you can put yourself forward.
