The Parish of Great and Little Sampford
Welcome to The Sampfords' Parish Council website. Here you will find all the latest community news and events, useful contacts and pictures of our beautiful parish. It is located three miles to the north-east of the town of Thaxted and eight miles to the south-east of Saffron Walden with a population of 586 at the 2011 Census.
Great Sampford has two churches: the Baptist church, which also owns a small hall, and the Church of England Parish church, St Michael's. Little Sampford also has a church called St Mary the Virgin. |
Also in the village is a primary school housing the village hall, a play area, a cricket ground and a public house. The play area includes a skate park donated by the National Lottery fund, a small football pitch, a zip wire, a table tennis table, and a tennis court.
It used to have a RAF airfield called RAF Great Sampford. The River Pant runs through the south of the village, which is connected to Hempstead by Howe Lane. |
